New display in Benson Gallery for this term – for anyone with an interest in Shakespeare this is a must.
There are two displays at the moment in the Benson Gallery. Inside the cabinets and on the plasma screen you will find a display entitled ‘The Staging of Shakespeare’s Cymbeline’ this includes reviews ranging from the first by Simon Forman in 1611 until the 21st Century. There is also a beautiful original theatre poster from 1827, and Pope’s edition of the Works of Shakespeare from 1723 on display. On the windows of the Gallery you will find a smaller display celebrating the rich heritage of Shakespeare’s language, consisting of the many words and phrases first coined by him & still in usage today.
Thanks to former student Bethany Sherwood who assisted in curating this display as part of her recent work-experience placement in the library.
