The basement of the English Faculty Library is now accessible, as the carpet work is now complete. Thanks for bearing with us, and we apologise for the inconvenience this may have caused.

The English Faculty Library is open Monday-Friday 9.30am-5pm. The basement is currently being fitted with new carpet, and is out of access. Please ask a member of staff who can fetch any books from the basement for you. You can email us with any queries at english@lib.cam.ac.uk.  

Due to ongoing reflooring, the English Faculty Library will be closed 1-6 September 2026. We hope to reopen Monday 7 September.   Please check hours or contact the library before journeying in. If you require a book for collection please contact the library at english@lib.cam.ac.uk.

The English Faculty Library will be closed 24th August – 31st August inclusive. The library will reopen Tuesday 1st September at 9.30am.

The English Faculty Library will experience disruption from 10th August to 4th September, whilst we have new carpet fitted. Well done on making it through Easter Term! For those staying in Cambridge over the summer, the EFL will switch to our vacation opening hours. The library will be open Monday – Friday 9.30am – 5pm, with last entry is 20 minutes before closing. Have a great break!

Welcome back! The English Faculty Library is open Monday-Friday 9.15am – 7pm and Saturday 11am – 5pm throughout Easter Term, and the library will be open over the May Bank Holidays. Last entry is 20 minutes before closing. Email the library with any questions at english@lib.cam.ac.uk.  

From Monday 23 March the EFL will be operating our vacation opening hours: Monday to Friday 9.30am to 5pm Closed Saturday & Sunday Last entry is 20 minutes before closing. In addition the library will be closed from Thursday 2nd April through Tuesday 7th April for staff annual leave. Email english@lib.cam.ac.uk with any questions.
