Resource of the week: The Cambridge Literature Timeline

A  frequent complaint from Cambridge examiners is that students often neglect to place authors and their texts within a wider literary and historical context.  The Cambridge Literature Timeline helps you do that at a glance. Place Keats in his proper context and deepen your understanding of literature as a whole.

From Beowulf to Zadie Smith, the Timeline is an easy-to-use visual aid that runs the whole gamut of English Literature.  Major writers are represented alongside key historical events and movements from 1066 to the present day.  Each author is linked to his or her scholarly biographical entry on Literature Online and further ‘stories’ are being added all the time.  Searchable, printable and viewable in 2D and 3D formats for ease of use, the timeline is well worth dipping into for a bit of literary perspective.

We are also developing timelines for specific literary movements and genres.  A Modernist timeline and a Modern Poetry timeline are already up and ready to use, please enquire for extra information.
