The MLA Internation Bibliography is a huge index of scholarly books and articles on modern languages, literatures, folklore, and linguistics, which has been compiled by the Modern Language Association of America since 1926.  What it’s good for:

• Seeing the breath of material published on a chosen topic, so brilliant for research or your dissertation, especially if the topic is obscure.
• Finding recent publications.  It’s very up-to-date and an estimated 66,000 new entries are added every year.
• International titles.  As the name suggests, the bibliography includes publications from Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, and North and South America.
• Getting to grips with limiting your searches. Because of the size of the database it can throw back lots and lots of results – persevere, and ask us if you’re stuck!
