North & South North & South is a popular television series chronicling the love affair between Southern belle Margaret Hale (Daniela Denby-Ashe) and simple northerner John Thornton (Richard Armitage). The series focuses not only on the class struggle between the two lovers, but also between the townsfolk through the community. The love affair is complicated when John begins to work for Margaret’s father, and she begins to see the horrible way in which John treats his employees at the mill. This causes Margaret to refuse John’s marriage request and John tries throughout the rest of the series to revive the tumultuous relationship and ultimately take her hand and fortune in marriage.
