Catherine Morland (Felicity Jones) is excited by the opportunity given to her by the wealthy Mr. (Desmond Barrit) and Mrs. Allen (Sylvestra Le Touzel) to visit Bath, England. She imagines the wonderful, romantic world of the story books that she has read, and she soon finds an opportunity to go out into society. When she becomes acquainted with Isabella (Carey Mulligan) and John Thorpe (William Beck) and Henry (JJ Feild) and Eleanor Tilney (Catherine Walker) she is quickly taken by the young Henry. Henry's parents take an approving first impression of her and invite her to Northanger Abbey, their country estate. Unfortunately once there she finds that her developing love for Henry may not be enough to win him as money is an important part of winning his heart.
