John McCabe (Warren Beatty) has a lot of charm but not a lot of brains. He says he gambles but people think he might have shot to death a gunfighter. He sets up a brothel. Then Constance Miller (Julie Christie) arrives in the Old West town called Presbyterian Church, in the state of Washington. She is strong and lovely; she wants to help run the brothel so they can both make money from it. She has her own girls and is a professional prostitute herself. The business does well, but then a big company wants to buy it and McCabe does not want to sell. |
