"This film should be played loud!" starts the critically hailed rock concert film and documentary of The Band's final performance on stage during the Thanksgiving Holiday of 1976. The Band is accompanied on stage with the performances and antics of Neil Young (who portrays a legless drug addict), Van Morrison, Ringo Starr (The Beatles), Eric Clapton (who challenges Band member Robbie Robertson to a duel on the guitar), and many others. Between performances, studio sessions and candid interviews are conducted with members of The Band focusing on their sixteen years on the road together and what will forever be known as their Last Waltz.
