Johnny Case (Cary Grant) is a well to do young man who man who feels pressured by his family to start his life and immediately take responsibility. He goes against their wishes though, and decides to spend the next few years traveling around the world living his life like he is on a never ending vacation. During his travels he meets a beautiful, and vivacious young lady named Linda Seton (Katherine Hepburn) who he falls for. Their love affair grows and they begin to discuss getting married, but this would force Johnny to give up his fun-loving single life, which he adores. He must now decide what is important in his life, and in which direction he will go with it.
