A classic of the silent era, and one in a series of movies featuring the Little Tramp (Charlie Chaplin), Gold Rush (1925) decides to seek his fortune in the Alaskan Gold Rush. Snow storms bring the Little Tramp together with prospector Big Jim McKay (Mack Swain) and a fugitive nicknamed Black Larsen (Tom Murray). Starving and fighting with the other two men, the Little Tramp is reduced to eating his boot. Eventually, he gives up prospecting and falls in love with a saloon girl (Georgia Hale) who he has no chance of ever winning. But the Little Tramp is a good guy, and you can never write off the good guy. Big Jim McKay has lost his claim, and needs the Little Tramp to find it. Can he find the gold and win the girl?
