Mr. Neville (Anthony Higgins) became the victim of someone's scheme and plan when he was contracted by Mrs. Virginia Herbart (Janet Suzman) who wanted him to prepare 12 paintings for his husband's estate. Mrs. Herbart agreed to meet him in the private, in the absence of her husband, which was the part of the contract. After the completion of 12 paintings, Neville made the same contract with her married but childless daughter, Mrs. Talmann (Anne-LouiseLambert). The contract at this time described the pleasures of Mrs. Talmann rather than his. Neville made number of curious things which pointed towards the death of Mr. Herbart, who was eventually killed and his body was recovered from the moat of the house.
