“Ladies in Lavender” is told under the backdrop of pre-war England and sees two aging sisters Ursula Widdington (Judi Dench) and Janet Widdington (Maggie Smith) who both live a peaceful life in their cottage on the shore of Cornwall. One morning after a fierce storm, the sisters find a man in their garden. Nursing him back to health they discover his name is Andrea (Daniel Bruhl), quickly befriending him and learning he’s a gifted violinist who was on his way to America for a better life. The sisters begin to dote on him contrary to the townspeople’s warnings. Everyone is suspicious of Andrea when he befriends a German woman, Olga (Natascha McElhone) and the sisters have to delve deeper into Andrea’s intentions.
