The movie Lord of the Flies is based on the book of the same name by William Golding. It tells the story of a group of schoolboys who are left stranded as castaways on a deserted island, with no adults for supervision after the pilot dies. The story unfolds into a tale of what happens when no authority exists. Into the vacuum of an authority-less society emerge two distinct factions. One, led by practical Ralph (James Aubrey) sets about conscientiously to find food and shelter. The other, led by wild boy Jack (Tom Chapin), is more preoccupied with adventure and hunting the wild pigs on the island. The movie's crucial turning point revolves around how each group treats the haplessly nicknamed Piggy (Hugh Edwards), whose fate seems to parallel that of the castaways.
