“Great Expectations” is a classic story of the young Pip (Anthony Wager). Pip is an orphan who lives the live of a smithy in s blacksmith shop with Joe Gargery (Bernard Miles) and his wife, Mrs. Joe (Freda Jackson). One day Pip comes across two escaped convicts who had escaped the galley and have forced the young boy to feed them. Pip is caught stealing and is caned for it, even though one of the convicts stands up for the boy. Along the way, Pip befriends the young Estelle (Jean Simmons) who is the adoptive daughter of Miss Havisham (Martita Hunt). However, Pip is sent to school by a mysterious benefactor who wishes to help the young boy integrate into London Society. Through this, Pip (John Mills) and Estelle (Valerie Hobson) grow up and each learns a thing or two about love life and who is mysterious benefactor is.
