Othello (Laurence Fishburne) is a Moor and a soldier. He is very brave and has made a good impression on Desdemona (Irene Jacob), who is a young woman from Venice, Italy. They have to get married in secret. Then Desdemona’s father is upset when he finds out about their marriage and tells Othello that since Desdemona has already been deceptive, she might trick her own husband someday. Iago (Kenneth Branagh), a soldier, gets passed over for promotion by Othello and wants vengeance in the worst way. He makes Othello think Desdemona has been unfaithful to him, causing Othello to take terrible measures and to cause tragedy.
