Other members of the gang include Dutch Engstrom (Ernest Borgnine), Lyle and Tector Gorch (Warren Oates and Ben Johnson), and Angel (Jaime Sanchez). The film begins by the gang riding into a town and holding up its railroad company. A group of bounty hunters had been waiting in ambush for the gang, but the group escapes thanks to the distraction caused by a parade. There is a massive gunfight and the surviving members of the gang ride out to a town where they meet with a fellow gang member Freddie Sykes (Edmond O'Brien), who supplies them with horses. We learn that a bounty hunter by the name of Deke Thorton (Robert Ryan) is out to capture Pike. The gang moves on and becomes hired by a village chief and German military advisors to undertake a arms heist from which they will be paid very well. The gang succeeds in holding up the train, but the bounty hunters are waiting for them, and another gunfight occurs. The gang escapes from the bounty hunters are retreats into Mexico where they face more danger from the men who hired them for the arms heist.
