In Czechoslovakia during the Nazi occupation, life is increasingly harsh for the residents. Milos (Vaclav Neckar) must do a job by working in a remote railway terminal as an apprentice. The war rolls by him with its reminders of remote horror, but his life remains whimsical. With a father so depressed he has taken to bed, and with a grandfather whose foolhardy nature led him to try to stop a tank with sheer willpower, Milos still has the concerns of a typical adolescent with his girlfriend Masa (Jitka Bendova) who also works for the railway. |
