Davey Gordon (Jamie Smith) is a not-very-successful boxer with a history of being knocked out. When leaving his apartment one night for an important match, he happens to walk out at the same time as Gloria Price (Irene Kane), a taxi dancer who lives in the same building, although they do not know each other. They are seen by Gloria’s boss, the jealous Vincent Rapallo (Frank Silvera), who jumps to the conclusion that Davey and Gloria are romantically involved. After losing the fight that night, Davey is invited by his Uncle George to return home to Seattle, at least for a brief vacation, but Davey refuses. Later that night, Davey hears screams from across the courtyard and runs to what happens to be Gloria’s room, where she is being attacked by Rapallo, and he succeeds in chasing Rapallo away. Gloria then confides the details of her troubled past to Davey that night and the next morning, and they fall in love. Davey then decides to go to Seattle after all, and Gloria agrees to go with him. Rapallo learns of these plans, tries to get Davey framed for a murder and kidnaps Gloria, and Davey struggles to clear his name and rescue the woman he loves.
