Based on true events and people, Vera Phillips (Keira Knightley) falls in love with the dashing Welsh poet, Dylan Thomas (Matthew Rhys). Later, the two former lovers reunite as World War II is crushing Europe. Now Thomas is married to a woman named Caitlin MacNamara (Sienna Miller). Even though both women love the same man, the two women become friends united by the passion for poetry. Later, Vera marries a soldier named William Killick (Cillian Murphy). Thomas of course becomes jealous. Later, William is sent off to war to fight which allows Vera to spend more time with Thomas and his wife. Upon returning from battle, William becomes enraged at his wife’s feeling for Thomas and explodes. |
